Contribute to the Molotov Rag!

Dear friends,

We are now accepting contributions for this Spring’s issue of The

Molotov Rag. Deadlines are February 22, 2010.

The Molotov Rag is made possible by the contributions of our

community. We are an intentionally collaborative project and in being

such rely on our fellow activists and community members for the

content published in every issue of our magazine. We welcome

unsolicited material, and strongly encourage new unpublished talent to

contribute.

As activists, we’re faced with countless questions every day: Brown

toast or white? Call in sick or steal photocopies? Plant some seeds,

or tear down a wall? "Work on my shit" or "Fight the real enemy"?

When does fighting for what we believe mean not fighting those around

us, and when does protecting the peace mean breaking the silence? When

does ideology become inflexibility? When does compromise become

collusion? Who needs to speak up, and who needs to shut up? When do we

push, and when do we heal?

If we imagine a society of co-operation tomorrow, how far does that

demand our co-operation go today? Across struggles? Across movements?

Across classes? Across ideologies? How far is too far, how close is

too close? Would a truly radical movement only include radicals? Could

a truly popular movement ever be revolutionary?

Within our movements and communities, there are invisible

intersections. Some need to be uncovered; maybe others need to buried

for good. If you were a Radical Movement Matchmaker for a day, which

struggles or communities do you think would really hit it off over a

torchlit dinner? What potential power exists along lines of contrast

within society at large, or within radical movements? Where could

conflict become confluence?

The Molotov Rag is calling on everyone who finds themselves wearing

many hats, holding many tongues, crossing many lines, or living in

many identities. If you have insights or experiences around balancing

internal and external, personal and political, community and

individual, ideal and reality, then we want to hear from you.

This Spring’s theme is Radical Intersections. As always, we consider

all forms of printable expression for publication in our magazine.

Deadlines are February 22, 2010.

In other news, I’m delighted to announce our new Volunteer

Coordinator, the rare & radiant maiden whom the angels named Scott

Thorn. He’s quite possibly the sweetest guy to have ever lived and I

for one adore him madly. I hope you'll all feel comfortable

approaching him with any questions you may have regarding how you can

get involved in Toronto’s Anarchist Quarterly.

As an all-volunteer collective, The Molotov Rag needs a bit of help

from time to time to get from issue to issue. There are lots of ways

you can help out and get involved, and all of it means the world to

us, all of it makes our lives easier, and all of it makes us feel

loved, supported and encouraged. We need everything from stamp-lickers

to cyclists to bakers to builders. We need it all. Perhaps it's cliche

to say, but this is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people,

and be a part of your community. If you’re interested, please email

Scott Thorn at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
